Spring in the Fiscalini Ranch Forest

Location: Registrants will be informed of location
Docent: Brian Morgan
A bright splash of yellow, orange petals moving in clear air, hints of mysterious blue popping through moist green grasses. The crunch your boots make on well traveled trails as you turn a corner and find yourself in a totally new forest "room". Chattering gray squirrels living their lives on the skinny branches. A trio of black tail deer crossing your forest path. Red shouldered hawks chasing threatening turkey vultures...nasty egg thieves! And all the while being closely watched by curious juncos, noisy acorn woodpeckers, and squeaking towhees
Marvel at the wonders of Mother Nature as you move slowly along shaded forest trails led by your naturalist docent guide. Any mushrooms to spot? How about that wispy stuff hanging from the coastal oaks-does it help or hurt their living hosts? You decide! Uncover human habitation dating back as far as 10,000 years. Who were these first Central Coast residents? How did they live? What foods and medicines did they develop? Friends or foes to the early Spanish explorers? Learn all of this and more as you use your five senses-plus curiosity-to uncover the mysteries of Spring in the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve Forest. I'll see you out there!"
