The Wonder of Early Spring in the Forest
Location: Registrants will be informed of location
Docent: Brian Morgan
A bright pop of orange, thorn covered branches with dangling red fruit, fuzzy leaves framing bursting yellow flowers.Sounds like an adventure for your early Spring senses! Does that colorful flower provide us with food or medicine? How did the First People use the abundance of Spring plant growth-shelter, clothing, food, or...? The enticing scent of Yerba Buena. The magic of discovering blackberries ripe and ready (but remember - look and enjoy the beauty - but leave it for wildlife and adventurers to enjoy). The joy found in the abundance of Monterey pine, Toyon, and Coastal Oak volunteer seedlings...future giants all!
This approximately two-mile walk, 2 1/2 hour docent led stroll gives us the opportunity to think about how “Mother Nature” provides for a diverse range of life on the Fiscalini Preserve. There is little elevation change on this walk. No dogs, rain cancels. Children are welcome with adult supervision. Remember there are no restroom facilities on the Ranch, so plan accordingly!
