2024.09.05 | Ranch “Animals” a Hit at the Pinedorado Parade
Brian Morgan led Friends of the Fiscalini Ranch Preserve to the Sweepstakes Award (again!) in the 2024 Lions Club Pinedorado Parade. FFRP’s entry was a testament to its volunteers who throw their hearts into the Ranch, and to how very fun that can be. From Brian’s mushroom elf to Mother Nature herself, FFRP’s entry was an amazing display of teamwork and biodiversity. More than 25 people made up its boisterous crew.
- Did FFRP have a flock of butterflies? Yes, it did!
- Did FFRP have squirrel, deer, skunk, otter, sparrow, tidy tips, pelican, and wood rat? For sure!
- Did FFRP have an impressive float? Certainly!
- Did FFRP have a butterfly collector, wandering tourist, and tiny rodeo clown? Of course they did!
- Did FFRP hand out 500 butterfly wands and 100 packs of wildflower seed? Naturally!
But the weeds will not be forgotten. While four weeders tried to corral two stunning human-sized mustard and thistle, another actually weeded along Main Street during the parade. And to top it all off, FFRP had a wonderful “after party” at the office where they hosted a few special friends, including good friends from Greenspace.
All in all, it was a wonderful day. It is such a pleasure to be part of this team. Congratulations to all involved! In Ranch news, the boardwalk is on track to be completed by the end of September.
